Testing the Creative Bounds of Data

I’m Lucas Gracian, a full-time student at the University of Florida from the Miami Metropolitan Area. I am pursuing a B.S. in Marketing along with minors in retail and statistics. I’m fascinated by how creativity and data merge together to drive effective marketing and brand strategy.

About Me:

I’m Lucas Gracian, a marketing student from Miramar, FL. I am a junior at the University of Florida with plans to minor in retail and statistics as well. I’m interested in how brands use both creativity and data to solve real business problems and connect meaningfully with consumers.

Admittedly, when I first enrolled at UF, I chose marketing as my career path because it felt like a safe starting point. I initially planned to pursue advertising as a second degree to explore my creative interests, but over time, coursework and hands-on projects shifted my perspective. Through classes like Branding, Principles of Marketing, International Business, and Financial Accounting, I developed a deeper appreciation for the analytical side of marketing and the role it plays behind the scenes of a business. I’ve learned how marketing spans from goal-setting, research, insights, and action. To me, marketing bridges logic, numbers, strategy, and creativity in a way few disciplines do.

I have experience in social media strategy, content and campaign planning, project management, data analytics, and market research, and I enjoy translating data into insights that inform thoughtful, effective marketing decisions. My approach combines analytical thinking with creative problem-solving to help brands make informed choices that drive impact.

Outside of academics, I’m passionate about photography, videography, football, and travel. From the eye for detail photography requires to the competitiveness of sports, my passions speak to how I view storytelling, culture, brand identity, and market presence. I’m currently seeking opportunities to continue growing as a marketing professional and to apply my data-driven and creative thinking in
real-world business environments.

Within different campaign development projects, I have held different roles, including project management, where I maintained consistent contact with our client to understand the company’s goals while developing a content calendar and timeline for deliverables. As a researcher for a project about Nordstrom, I used research to propose expansion into a new region while promoting sustainability.

To the right, there is a photograph of modern city skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa, with a white, cone-shaped monument in the foreground. Text on the image reads 'Partnering with Dubai's Government and other Companies,' 'Sustainability Through Partnerships,' and a list mentioning Art Pieces, Architecture, Repurposing, and Commercial Innovation.

A team of 4 other students and I were tasked with researching a department within the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida to discover it had a high turnover percentage when compared to other departments. Over the course of a semester, we successfully conducted primary research/collected secondary research and developed recommendations for the department to follow, which have been used since.

Research and Consulting

A two-page spread from a report or presentation about perceptions and demographics of survey respondents and their level of interaction with a university website. The pages include sections titled 'Perceptions/Demographics' and 'Website,' with a word cloud on the left page containing words like 'creative,' 'helpful,' 'exciting,' and 'amazing,' and a full-page image on the right of a brick building with a red roof, a communication tower, trees, and a clear sky.

Photography and Film

Photography has always been a hobby of mine, and over the past year it has transformed into to a gig. I have taken photos for student-run organizations at the University of Florida and for personal clients as well. I also have experience in videography, video editing, and photo editing.

I always find time in my schedule to take snap pictures of the world around me. While photography and film have recently become a service I provide, it will always be a passion of mine at heart.
